Has anybody had any first-hand experience with the new chart and PhaseOne
cameras? We have been using ColorBlind Professional 4.0 to make camera
profiles for our PhotoPhase scanning back cameras and the results have been
unacceptable. The captures taken with the new profiles are very noisy, have
posterized highlights, and have a pink cast in certain tonal ranges (mostly
lighter areas). I have two theories here:
1)ColorBlind blows. The procedure for using their product with the new
chart is really kludgy (I have a 5 page PDF if anybody is interested).
Would a software package that is fully compliant with this chart yield
better results (like ProfileMaker Pro)?
2)The camera software is choking on the more complex profile. These cameras
are going on four years old now and maybe the software just can't cope with
the new profiles? We have been using profiles generated with the standard
target for years now with successful results.
I like the idea behind the new chart. More patches should yield a better
camera profile, but not so in our case. anybody else experiencing these
problems?
Feel free to contact me off-list.
cheers,
