A basic question (I think) about curves in photoshop. I load a curve
before I print to my 2000P to correct for all the "free Epson Metamerism"
commonnly known as 'the meany-greenies'. After printing I discard the layer
(in 8 bit) or go back a history state (in 16 bit). Am I degrading the file
by doing this? In other words, if I come back a day later and print the
same image and load the same curve, will the data be the same if I have not
saved any changes the first time?
BTW If anyone wants to do a side by side test on their 5500 or 10000 I'd be
willing to supply a 2000P print on mat or semigloss for comparison of
metamerism. I have the 2000p profiled 'for daylight' as it were, and the
output is pretty good IMHO. I guess we'd need an adjudicator with a spectro
to measure the differences.
If there was an objective measureable difference in metamerism between the
printers I would consider buying a 5500, so this is of interest to me, and
hopefully others on this list.
I realize that one print, or two or three even can say only so much. I get
'surprised' by the 2000P every once and a while where a neutral has a cast I
did not expect. But after profiling the 2000P things have been much
improved and more reliable.
