Steve Upton replied: not true!!!
BESTColor folks may be treating it as unprofilable for tech support
reasons but recently we have had success in profiling this RIP for
output purposes. We are in the process of contacting our existing
BESTColor DE clients with the updated information and methods.
It is a little fiddly but not quite as bad as PressReady. Close though.
I am in the process of writing it up as a tech note for our site. If
people are interested I'll let the list know when it is up.
Oh yeah - avoid the Stylus RIP. It is such a pain......
Hi Steve,
Am I to understand that you have developed a work around for the limitations of
Designer Editions If so, does it allow one to have complete control over individual
channels, most importantly black generation? If that is so, I would most definitely
be interested in your solution!
As you know, my offset printing is somewhat unusual (i.e. latest CTP/Stochastic)
and I have created custom "profiles" (not according to Hoyle) that work reasonably
well for my closed loop situation. I need to improve the proofing system, and my
research to date indicates that an Epson 3000 ,with Designer Edition, with 3rd
party inks, with "Kentucky windage" may be 'an' answer.
Your thoughts sir?
