I dont know if I have the answer to these questions you pose, but I can say that I have seen the new Firey Rip 1.5 and is has options for RGB and CMYK workflows and this Rip does accept custom profiles for simulations. I only saw this and have not been hands on with it yet. My first impression was that this new RIP had a few bugs to be worked out such a setting up a mixed workflow of RGB and CMYK images. I asked during the demo but there is no answer yet.
