I don't know about that. Just three months ago, I got a Firey RIP and
it is a piece of S. I have called Epson teks at the least 20 times
over three months period of time. I have more case file numbers than
I know what to do with. The RIP never did work with custom profiles.
There was a great deal of noise present in each print and not a one
tek of all of them even knew what a profile was I spent hours and
days on the telephone. This was a nightmare experience and I am now
trying to return this to Epson for a full refund. It is hard for me
to believe that Epson has now magically corrected the problem as I
sent by FED-X all of the test sheets I was producing and when some
tek finally did present them to some engineer somewhere along the
line, they again brushed it off. My opinion of Epson and their RIP
is that you would be better off buying a software RIP and using the
rest of the money for a trip to Hawaii as at least that is enjoyable.
The Epson RIP is also by definition a risk as problems given to Epson
are punted to Fiery and problems presented to Fiery are punted to
Epson. Dual design problems are inherently difficult to get
assistance of and I definitely found this to be true.
Wasatch is under a thousand and I have heard it is pretty good and I
have heard actually has real tek support.
