Surely, you mean "Epson pigmented inks?"
Several vendors have been very successful with pigmented inks before
Epson "invented" them (sort of like how Microsoft "invented" windowed
computing... :-)
In my experience, metamerism depends a lot on the substrate. Using
Roland's Hexachrome pigmented ink set, the ONLY time I experience
metamerism is with one particular paper -- their cheapest semi-gloss
paper changes colors in certain lighting.
Roland's high-end watercolor paper, high-gloss film, backlit film,
and even sign/banner material have shown NO metamerism in my use.
This includes a 48"x118" Tyvek banner that has been displayed at art
shows throughout the region in direct sunlight, incandescent light,
florescent light, etc.

Excellent point Jan. Though I note metamarisms have graced my Roland
ink set when: when I use cheap semi-gloss and when I over-ink. We do
a lot of double printing on matte canvas and AC10. First we get the
color right, then we look for a metamarismic shift. More often than
not it will appear in the deeper mixes involving cyan/green/black.
Getting our ink limits and linearization just right has proven a long
and tedious task, but worth it.
