why is CM a such a mystic topic?

People divides into two kinds: the ones who know everything about color
management and who does not understand absolutely anything about it. Why is
CM such a tricky topic? Why is so difficult to find practical advice? And,
the ones who know everything, how they did? What have they read or studied?
