Nipat,
thank you for your informations below. I attached them uncut since you were
unable to post it to the colorsync forum.
Obviously there have been significant improvements since the early Fiery for
the Epson 5000 in 1998. But as I read from your email (and from others on
this and other lists), you and many users are still missing (or can't find)
an option to use the device in plain CMYK mode without profile to create
your own device profile (for the EPSON printer, with ability to control
black generation) and to upload additionally a simulation profile (press,
Matchprint or so).
Our BESTColor allows precisely that since the very first version, but it can
be a pitfall if the user does not know what the black settings in the inkjet
printer profile actually do. E.g. an early black start combined with a heavy
GCR can cause visible "peppering" which appears like low resolution.
I forwarded this email also to the colleagues from EFI, maybe they have the
ability to implement such an option into a future update of their RIP
engine. I think it would be a nice benefit to their existing proven
plug-n-play concept and be appreciated by industry professionals who bought
the device to proof their press on a custom loaded inkjet paper.
regards,
Juergen Roesch

Now with v 1.4 (1.5 is for Epson 7500/9500), there are

Now I think I can say that the Fiery is now ICC compatible.
