I assume you're asking about BestColor DE.
The colorimetric values will be in the proofing printers range. The big
differences are in the handling of linearisation and screening. The PC sided
Best has many prepress type of features useful for production work. The
current state for the 1280, 1290, is that the screening doesn't utilize the
variable drop size. You don't see much peppering except the black start (as
compared to the PC based Best) but is still acceptable for proofing as it is
colorimetrically correct. They are re-working the screening and indeed will
use variable dot in the near future. DE works well out of the box even
without getting involved with custom linearisation and profiling , giving
you reliable proofs from the first try.
