When going back to three color Colorsync asks for a conversion from the
device color to PCS then to the chosen working space. Some profiles have
good tables that preserve integrity. Others may use a more conservative
mapping that skews colors more. Also the CMM has an influence if slight on
the conversions.
If you're referring to the 10-15% change is that cmyk values while in rgb?
This would be your color set up, profiles chosen rendering etc. A great
guide to production information in Photoshop is Bruce Fraser's book Real
World Photoshop 6 available online thru Amazon.
