The "child" profile you are describing is a device link profile, which
converts directly from press (or the device to be simulated) CMYK to output
printer CMYK, without going through a profile connection space. This allows
for more control over these conversions and preservation of 100% black (ie.
text). Device link profiles can be created in MonacoPROFILER. The next
issue is how to apply these profiles. Most RIP's don't take them. Does
anyone know which RIP's will take device link profiles?
Cheers,
Tom
