I have worked with
quite a few of these images myself and they are all over the place WRT
color. I do not believe you will find a single profile that will "fix" them
all.
At the time, we provided Corel with software to do an adaptive translation
from Photo YCC color space (the native color space used in Photo CD) into
RGB. This worked very well, but you needed to import each image
individually, since each had its own unique problem.
This is great info! But this also means that there is no simple way
for ordinary clipart users or the run of the mill graphic designer
to make sensible good looking pictures out of the Corel collection.
I simply cannot make one single recipe for our designers that will
get good results every time. So far I have "taken orders" from the
design department and done the adjustments myself. Luckily some CDs
seems to have the same colorspace on all pictures.. which means
batch processing has worked relatively OK. But it is timeconsuming
anyway, which is not that smart a feature for a clipart collection
like this.
