why do you want to do it so complicated?
with silverfast you are able to tag your scan with the scanner ICC, so there
is no need to do a conversion in Photoshop to an other RGB colorspace. the
only reason to do it is that you have RGB-workflow whis allows you only to
work with one RGB-Profile.

if you are only working for one and the same newspaper you should work
direktly to the cmyk profile, because you have less work and don't waste
your time with colorspace conversions.
if you want to publish to more devices tag you scanner ICC or go to lab.
save you files in this colorspace and do only a cmyk conversion for the
needed output. you are very fexible in your workflow.
