The answer is a YES. To date I have tested 8 brands of paper with Epson
Inks and one third party ink manufacturer. I am amazed at how much these
prints are drifting. I am seeing visual change quantified by
spectrophotometric measurements at regular intervals. Measurements where
meticulously taken with a Spectrolino
To date the best performer has been ORIS ink on ORIS paper. I have been
measuring the 100% and 50% values of the CMYKRGB every half hour for the
first 6 hours, then daily after that. After Five days;
ORIS ink and paper:
average DeltaE = .6
peek DeltaE = .9
Another recommended brand w/ Epson inks:
average DeltaE = 2.4
peek DeltaE = 5.1
The ORIS combination has held steady for 10 days! All other have continued
to change. I do not want to bash the other entrants. It is my hope that
these manufacturers will work with us to bring stable products to market.
I am continuing to test various combinations. I am also curious to see how
Matchprints and Approvals hold up! I welcome any input to make inkjet
proofs a viable prepress solution!
