We have been using the ColorByte RIP that talks directly to the Epson via
Firewire. I do believe it will also talk Ethernet as well but at a speed
sacrifice over Firewire. It does not call the Epson driver in it's
processing. In fact I believe we've installed it without even loading the
Epson software.
They can send you a free demo that's not crippled if you want to try it.
