We have profiled our proofer(and output-Pressmatch), monitor and scanner
(Eversmart Supreme). We have used Colortune 4.01 from Agfa. Our
results have really improved the color overall. The major shortcoming
seems to be with the scanner profile. As soon as we apply it to our
scans the images darken too much. We must then set a white and black
before converting to our CMYK output profile. Much of our work is
critical color match and our application of color management seems to
do a much better job than what we had achieved before. Is there a way
that we could adjust or alter the scanner profile to lighten it's
result without altering the color? Improper selection of whites and
blacks can make dramatic changes to images - something I'd like to
avoid. Also, our workflow is to provide print-ready CMYK files. We
scan RGB, apply our scanner profile and then convert to our output CMYK
profile.
Thanks,
Ray Landis
