most designers aren't going to
want to deal with color managing (or paying for color management) their
devices.
I believe you are both right in this assessment. But some are
interested in learning when presented with the opportunity. Print
shops often make an effort to educate their clients and photographers
(specially digital) should do this too.
As far as licensing issues go, I don't think you'd be in violation if you
were to create printer profiles for remote clients. All of those color
management consultants would be in big trouble if they had to pay licensing
I need to look into this further, I thought Itec said that MatchBox
generated profiles couldn't be distributed. I think Gretag Macbeth
is different - policies seem to vary. As far as the consultants go I
was hoping more of them might have suggestions.
