Epson 2450, about $400; but I heard it's being phased out, so better grab
one before they're gone. Silverfast drives it. FireWire and USB, 2400x4800,
built-in transparency adapter.
Canon has some nice hardware too, with FLARE (equivalent to ICE scratch
removal) but SilverFast doesn't support them, and I have no clue whether the
Canon software is good or not.
Maybe VueScan supports Canon, I've read good comments about that software
(and supports almost everything) but haven't tried it myself yet.
