Dear Roger
My rip is Postershop. It is able to have different profiles for CMYK raster
and vector images and RGB raster and vector images or a combination there
of.
The majority of the files I get for printing on my grand format inkjet come
in the form of Illustrator and Quark files with PS image files. I check all
the PS files to see if there is a proflie attached and if it's 4c or 3c.
Generally the Ill. file has no profile attached from the customer so I set
up Postershop approprialty. Somtimes the Ill file is RGB but mostly CMYK.
I have to outline all fonts and embed all placed image files once I scale
the Ill file to the finale size or at least half size.
What brought up the original question was for using a straight PS eps file
with a custom made attached profile. I just wanted to get some opinons
which I did and they went along with mine. Extract the profile and put it
into the rip. Postershop doesn't recognize an attached profile with an eps
file only tiff.
Pete
PS. you know it really really hard to get a 30' banner stuffed into a light
booth.
