HI All
i would like to get some opinions on how everyone is handling files
supplied to them.
One of many exchanges I've been involved in on this topic.
How Should Service Bureaus Deal With CM?

basically shouldnt everyone be responsible for what they send out these
days?
Yes. Professionals accept responsibility as a standard in part
because they expect your workflow to be repeatable and able to both
offer and maintain some checks and balances along the way. This
affords them a chance to correct where necessary (or instruct you to
correct) and predict the outcome with surety.
Many define their expectations up front. Many tend to ask up front
what our workflow is and what our requirements are. We also maintain
client specific workflows where requested.
Others should be required to answer a quiz:
1. Should I embed profiles?
2. Which profiles should I embed?
3. Are these my workspace profiles?
4. Are the best profiles always at the top of the profiles menu?
5. If I have cmyk and rgb files attached to the same document. Which
profile should I embed?
6. I work at home and do not have a lab. Does this mean I cannot use
Lab as a profile conversion space?
7. My images look great on my monitor. Should I convert to and embed
my monitor profile?
8. Do output profiles convert my 72ppi web graphics to 300ppi print graphics?
9. Do I really have to type "ps" at the end to give you a postscript
file? Or will a "cc" at the end of the document do?
...hmmm I must be getting a little jaded. Cynical perhaps.
