As a matter of fact, to add to your point Linda, I just finished creating an
output profile, last night, for an SC3000 on Dupont CromaPro paper with Fuji
ColourKit v3.0.4 under OSX, measurements were done a regular EyeOnePro. And
I am glad to report that, not only do the colors look gorgeous on the paper
but the simulation in Photoshop looks very close to the print. (v2.3 only
supported the EyeOne for monitor profiling whereas v3.0.4 for OSX supports
it both for monitor and print profiling.) This was done with BEST Designer
Edition with a custom ink linearisation for this media. The conversion was
done in Photoshop 7 using ACE, RelCol w/BPC. The test image is the one from
PhotoDisc. In all fairness, I did not get a gorgeous print on the first
sheet of paper. Key to the whole process, in this case, was figuring out how
to do the linearisation in BEST DE. Not trivial but doable.
If anyone has tips on how to do a custom linearisation for a desktop printer
with only curves, let me know!
