ProfileMaker 4.0 upgrade

My dongle reprogramming issue seems to be resolved.

The ProfileMaker Pro 4.0 upgrade package ships with an application called
the License Transfer Utility (LTU). It is very important to proceed through
the steps of this utility in a strict sequence and only plug the dongles in
when they are asked for by the utility. Be sure to remove all dongles and
extraneous hardware from the USB before running this application.

The documentation is a little vague on this topic. Matters are further
complicated by Gretag US asking for a screen shot of one of the License
Transfer Utilities dialog boxes before sending the access key. This could
potentially lead one back through the various steps in the app without first
removing the dongles just installed.

I believe the best procedure is to start by installing the 4.0 software
(this will install the new Hasp4 drivers) and then in the folder labeled
goodies which also resides on the 4.0 CD you will find the License Transfer
Utility applet.

1) Before running the applet remove all extraneous devices and dongles from
your computers USB. Replug the two Gretag dongles just to double check that
the appropriate drivers are resident in your OS and then remove them again.

2) Run the applet (from the cd is probably fine) and it will prompt you to
install your older v 3.0 or 3.1 dongle. You also have to tell the app to
find the dongle at this time.

3) In the next window an access code will be returned along with some other
information. Write all this down and forward it to Lisa Torres at
email@hidden if you are in the USA. Ignore the written letter
prompting you to call an 800 number. I think in other parts of the world you
are supposed to send this information to your local dealer.

4) When you get the new access key back from Gretag/Switzerland you must
again clear your USB and restart the License Transfer Utility and again
install the v3.x dongle when prompted and command the app to find it. The
app will then ask for the Hasp4 dongle and find it as well. At the end of
this step you must be sure to correctly enter your new access code. There is
not enough room in the dialog box to view the entire access code sequence,
be sure to use the forward and back arrows to check the entire code and make
sure there are no spaces etc.

5) At this point when you hit "forward" in the dialog box the new and old
dongles will both be reprogrammed. All should be well.

Again DO NOT do what I did, which is to EVER fire the LTU app with any
dongles already plugged into your USB.
