Hi Folks,
I hope you can help me. I have been readying this list for over a year now
and been trying to learn all I can about color. I understand the basic
concepts and can help my clients to an extent. I don't consider myself an
expert at the level of most you and I hope you can straighten me out.
The highest level of color work I do is providing my clients with the
Colorvision PhotoSuite (nee Suite1) to help them get a bit better match
between their printers (typically an Epson product) and soft proofs on their
monitors. For the most part I can show them the process and with some trial
and error, they get good results. I don't advertise myself as a color
professional, but being able to help them a bit. I usually explain what true
color professionals do and why what I do isn't that.
What I need is a good workflow to show them, as basic as possible. They seem
to get the monitor calibration process ok, as they like playing with the
"flying saucer with suction cups." It is almost fun for them.
What would be good is some simple step by step printer profiling instructions
and then how to apply it. There was a nice writeup in Macworld this past year
and I give it to them for their reference, but it isn't enough.
Can anyone provide me with such steps or show me where some may be published?
remember that my clients are low level color users, not high end folk. They
just want a decent match between the soft proof and the print.
Thanks!
Ben Greisler
