Sorry. Gods forgive. Geeks just forward more reading:
Therefore:
Roland's website recommends:
"All you have to know is the physical size (inches) of the graphic
and the viewing distance (feet). Determine the ppi by matching it
with the distance viewed:
* Distance Factors
* 1-4 ft = 150ppi
* 5-9 ft = 100ppi
* 10+ ft = 50ppi
Then plug the information into the formula below. The math will
indicate the best dpi for the application.
Scan Resolution = PPI Resolution for Job x Output Size / Input Size
Example: 4000dpi = 100ppi Distance of 5-9 feet x 40/1 inch
Example: 6000dpi = 150ppi Distance of 1-4 feet x 40/1 inch
Note: Most digital printers can use 250-500Mb file sizes."
Quite frankly: I never did get it nor use it.
But hey, it might help someone out there... :0)
