Carl,
1. In Photoshop select a new document
2. Make sure the color space is Lab
3. Select the gradation tool
4. Hold the shift key and draw the gradation
5. Now you will have a 3-color gray
6. Select the eyedropper tool with the cross hair
7. Use the eye dropper to select the dot area on
the grayscale that you wish
8. In the info palette there will be the cmyk values
that correspond to the values you selected
9. If you want to compare these cmyk values to another
profile go to: color setting > cmyk setup
10. Select another profile
Now you can compare the dot area from one profile to another. Its very
helpful in determining if there
is consistent dot gain between devices.
I hope this helps.

Hi everyone-
I was wondering if there was a way to calculate or determine the dot gain
of
a CMYK profile in PhotoShop. Or, can that information be found in the Tags
somewhere.
Tools at my disposal:
PS 6
Chromix ColorThink
ProfileMaker suite
Thanks for the time and help.
