I've made a profile of our offset press with the Gretag Software.
OK
The profile is not bad, but we see a little problem in the light tones.
I simulate our press on a Epson 5000, and see that in the light tones,
there is a little bit too much magenta in it.
What is the conversion path (iQueue, Pshop ... ? with what settings
?). The inkjet printer in itself is not very likely to have anything
to do with it.
How do you secure press repeatability? Do you use a graybalance
strip? A press control system? If you are comparing proof prints to a
press which isn't stable, then ...
I know that there is a tool to change a little bit the profile (Profile
editor), but when I use this, I loose the control over my profile.
It's very difficult to do something correct, because I loose then some
quality at the opposite site.
Version 3.1.X of the ProfileEditor is hard and you can do things you
shouldn't be doing. Upgrade to version 4 and take care what you edit.
Or better still, don't fix the profile but fix the process. Fixing
the profile doesn't help if the process is what needs fixing. A
profile is only as good / valid as the process it describes.
