Hello all,
Installed my first CRT/LCD Spyder and Optical 3.5 at a customer and had a
weird problem with the way the luminence was being displayed.
Since this was a CRT display (Viewsonic G810), I followed the instructions
and pulled off the LCD filter and replaced it with the suction cup same as
the old Spyders.
In Precal, we went thru the normal routine and set a color temp of 6500K and
adjusted the luminence to around 95 candelas. We then proceeded to Optical
and selected a Gamma of 2.2 and used the NATIVE white point selection (this
was a new but welcome option) since we had already set this correctly in
Precal. When we got to the black point/white point readings, the values were
whacked! I was reading something like .60 for black point. Thinking this
could've been due to the high amount of ambient lighting (bright office
fluorescent lighting which I couldn't do anything about), I turned the
brightness to 0% but it was still reading near .50. So I moved on to the
white point setting. Here it was "measuring" nearly 200 candelas! Since this
was impossible and I did seem to get correct readings in Precal, I assume
it's some sort of software glitch. So why the "correct" behavior in Precal
but the whacky behavior in Optical (both installed from the same CD)?
Any ideas?
Terry
