Since this was a CRT display (Viewsonic G810)...(clip)
In Precal, we went thru the normal routine and set a color temp of 6500K and
adjusted the luminence to around 95 candelas. We then proceeded to Optical
and selected a Gamma of 2.2 and used the NATIVE white point selection (this
was a new but welcome option) since we had already set this correctly in
Precal. When we got to the black point/white point readings, the values were
whacked!...(clip)
Any ideas?
Yup. But I wouldn't call it a solution.
If you download ViewSonic profiles for the G800 series and inspect
them you'll find they have a matrix based gamma 3.0 (don't know why).
The G series also used to have an optional graphics card which I
believe emulated 1.8 behavior.
Using PreCal I've calibrated both our G810's as you have, then using
a black target (in OptiCal 3.1) of, believe it or not, 3.0 and
proceeding as normal I then get a one to one match with our
Mitsubishis and LaCies. Strange...but true.
It would be helpful here if someone else would chime in. I don't
believe this is an OptiCal issue but a ViewSonic G-series one.
