That's the idea. More black usage will provide less metameric shift. Epson
developed the 7600 and 9600 with with the addition of Lt black to smooth out
1/4 tone black dots. Same idea of visually smoothing our the course Magenta
and Cyan dots with the additions of LT magenta and cyan. Watch out for weird
(cool?) non-neutral grayscale prints if you print just with the black plate
(K) of the 7600 and 9600. Kind of similar to the hue shift seen as you move
from a mixture of LT mag and Magenta to just one ink in measuring and
graphing 25,50,75, 100 tints.
Can't use this technique successfully with the course dots of the Epson 7K,
7500 and 9K, 9500.
