I am going to have the task of setting up color management for a
group of designers who just purchased (without my input) a Phaser
7700. From what I understand, the ICC profile control available for
this printer is to use a device link profile in the provided printer
driver. Xerox provides a basic tool for creating the printer profile,
(similar to Praxisoft's WYZIWG or Monaco's EZ Color) then any ICC
profile can be combined with the printer profile through the
Phasermatch software to create a device link profile, which then gets
loaded into the driver. Phasermatch will not allow the choice of a
standard ICC profile for use as the 7700 printer profile--it forces
the choice of a profile created with the rudimentary profiling
software. Then, the resulting device link profile can be used in the
print dialog.
Question: does anyone know if a device link profile created entirely
outside of Phasermatch can be loaded? I would rather create the
printer profile with CompassProfile then take a Photoshop CMYK
working space and create a devicelink profile in ColorThink, then
load that into the driver. Or alternately, maybe the type/creator
info can be modified on a decent 7700 profile to trick Phasermatch
into accepting it?
