As far as i can tell RGB covers most of CYMK colours but not all? And for a

I think you're getting things a bit confused. RGB values do not really
define a "space" at all. RGB values and space must be defined in terms of an
ICC profile to sort of put the RGB values in the proper "context". This is
most commonly done with what's referred to as a "RGB Working Space Profile"
but it could also be defined by a scanner, digital camera or even a monitor
profile. These profiles are sort of the "container" that your particular RGB
values can fit into. The profile is the size of this container and will
determine whether or not your RGB container is larger or smaller than the
CMYK container you're comparing to.
With a few exceptions (sRGB, AppleRGB and ColorMatchRGB), I would say most
RGB working spaces actually exceed or go beyond the boundaries of typical
CMYK profiles/color spaces. And a few (BestRGB, ProPhotoRGB and Wide Gamut
RGB) go well beyond any likely CMYK or Hexachrome color gamut you'll ever
likely encounter.
Hope this helps,
Terry
