1% here and there is not a big deal if it is in an imagable area. For 1%
to occur in THREE channels (3% TAC) where there should be none is a HUGE
big deal. It's like a divide by zero error - it should just be plain
illegal to mess around with non-imagable areas.
Distiller by default uses an Automatic method to determine whether to use
ZIP or JPEG, and that's for the Press job option. So some images destined
for press are going to end up being JPEG'd and that's a recommended
possibility by Adobe by virtue of the default setting. If JPEG is so
hazardous, users need a warning before they end up with scum dots on
expensive output devices.
