There is JPEG2000 which really isn't JPEG, that offers lossless
compression that is pretty decent (better than TIFF w/ LZW by far,
probably better than TIFF w/ ZIP but now that I think about it I haven't
compared the two). It does support embedding of ICC profiles however.
Somewhere on the web there is a JPEG2000 file format plug-in for
Photoshop (works on OS 9 and X) that you can stick in the File Format
folder in the Plug-Ins folderin Photoshop. You don't even have to go to
the export menu - it's right in the list of other suported file formats
in the Save As dialog. I have confirmed that saving out an embedded
profile is recognized when opening the image (with a copy of Photoshop
that has the plugin).
