OK, but you get a LOT more with PMP Pro. You get the Measure Tool which is
very useful for averaging profiles and doing quality control using the
compare feature.
You get a pretty powerful profile editor. While I prefer using DoctorPro or
Custom Color ICC for output profiles, GretagMacbeth's has more power (I can
edit input profiles which I find necessary). I have a really nice 3d gamut
viewer, ability to edit the internal profile names, control stuff that
neither editor above can deal with.
I have the Color Picker which is very useful for building palettes for use
in iQueue. I have PMP Pro itself so I can build scanner and camera profiles.
I have post linearization for CMYK profiles etc.
I agree that if Match isn't enough horse power for you, there are options
besides going all the way to PMP Pro which cost more than the Suite you
mention. But PMP Pro does a lot more than the Color Vision suite. So once
again, you get what you pay for. If you don't need all that stuff then of
course you shouldn't pay extra.
I don't think the stock answer should be go PMP Pro unless you need to
profile scanners and cameras, do all the stuff that you can do with their
editor or with the Measure Tool etc.
I still think it's goofy to include the Spyder in the suite when a user has
purchased an EyeOne. Both do LCD's and CRT's. No matter how loud I cry,
Color Vision doesn't seem to want to support the EyeOne in Optical. Why they
support other manufacturers devices and why they support the EyeOne in
Profiler but not Optical is a mystery that ranks up there with the origin of
the universe.
