Japanese Printing Standards...
Japanese Printing Standards...

We started working with a printer in Hong Kong that uses the 'Japanese
Standard' for printing, but after some reading on the 'net it seems that
there are at least two ink sets that are used in Japan; Toyo and Daiichi
(sorry if my Romajii is goofy).
Does anyone on the list have experience in preparing files for Japan. Is
the profile that ships with the Adobe applications (Japan Standard v2) a
useful profile for making separations or should i look elsewhere for
something better? Is there a single Japanese standard?
Part of the problem is that we are working with a trading house in
China, which works with the printing facility, also in China, while the
administrative offices for the printer are in Hong Kong (which is where
the film is prepared). Needless to say, there are few extra layers of
communication to the process and i have yet to get the answer or profile
that i need to correctly prepare the artwork for press.
Thanks for any advice,
-iE
