I am currently proofing with Epson 1270 and Mitubishi Dual-sided Semigloss
paper. The paper is blue (measures -6 b* without UV attachment and -2 b*
with UV). It's got a big blue spike in the spectral info. I've been able to
simulate Creo proofer on Matchprint base by seperating to CMYK as usual then
abso.col. conversion to Creo profile w/edited white point (thanks Chromix)
and simulated dot gain, then rel.col. conversion to RGB printer profile. It
looks very good but all the yellow ink being laid down is killing the
'snappiness' of the print. If I pull back on the yellowish white point, then
the blue of the paper starts to affect the highlights.
I am looking for a: less blue, thin, semigloss, quick drying, affordable,
Super A3 proofing paper for use on the 1270 with dye inks.
Any suggestions?
Also, I am infrequently getting banding in dark browns and reds (shadow side
of an apple and deep shadow areas in portraits) using PM4.0 profiles on
various media. Is this just an Epson thing or is it media and ink specific?
Andrew??
Thanks,
_jeff
