Hi All,
I'd welcome opinions on what the best 17" or larger LCD display is for
colour accurate work. I'd prefer one with a DVI connector, rather than ADC,
so that I can connect it without adapter to the newest Mac Powerbook and an
nVidia video card in a PC.
The Formac Gallery 1740 seems to be well-regarded, but information on the
colour accuracy of this generation of LCD displays, relative to better CRT
monitors, appears scarce. The DVI model I gather is just an ADC model with
included adapter, however, so I'm not sure if I'm losing anything with this
converter (plus, as I mentioned, I'd rather just avoid the adapter route
altogether if possible).

The last/only evaluation of LCD vs CRT for colour critical work I recall
seeing was Bruce Fraser's Macworld article about a year ago:

General thoughts about whether it's realistic for a colour-managed
photographer to be satisfied with the colour as displayed by the current
crop of LCD displays would be welcome. My main interest in an LCD is
text-related: I want a display that's easier on the eyes when crunching on
text during long writing sessions and, after using the Apple Cinema Display
recently for this purpose, I was sold on the LCD concept. But I don't want
to murder colour accuracy when evaluating and toning photos in the process.
