Roger, do you mean the MEC and not NEC?

I use the MEC with trinitron based monitors and get good results.

Pete, I know MEC stands for Monitor Expert Calibrator from Alwan Systems, in
France, which is a superlative calibration/profiling solution based on a
Sequel Chroma IV (as in 4).
But I really meant NEC as in Nippon Electric Company not MEC. The Mitsubishi
DP2060 is also a NEC by virtue of the two companies having merged their
monitor manufacturing three years ago. The 21" DP2060 comes bundled with the
new Sequel Chroma VI (as in 6) colorimeter which plugs into the USB port of
the Mac while the cable that goes from the Mac to the monitor uses an extra
special USB cable like the LaCie's.
The whole thing uses that new interface protocol Tom Lianza spoke about to
the list a while ago that's supposed to become ever more popular among
monitor manufacturers.
