Despite the misinformation in many sources (most discouraging being Jim
Rich's GATF sponsored Photoshop book) what is needed is not a change of file
name extensions (both .icc and .icm work on Windows), but the addition of Mac
file type and creator code data. There is a common AppleScript that will add
this on the Mac (I believe the name is DropColorSyncProfile), or you can use
a more general utility like FileTyper to change the file type to "prof" and
the creator to "sync"...
