Gary,
I attended a Canon USA training, and they told us to set the driver to Match
Copy for the CMYK Simulation profile when sending a profiling target. This
tells the "Z" to ignore any output profile/calibration curve. But you'd
better hope the CLC is in excellent service condition, because you'll be
totally dependent on the engine performance. I do it this way:
1. Perform the Gradation Auto Adjust on the copier.
2. Calibrate the Z to the copier using the densitometer (DTP32) method. I
like using the 11x17 patch because it provides more density values.
3. Send the target using the CMYK Simulation of NONE. This results in output
that has been calibrated.
4. Measure and build.
Every time you calibrate, you'll have to build another profile, but the
results are more accurate in the long run.
And in order to actually simulate paper whites, you're going to have to pony
up to a new Z (like the Z650) and the Graphic Arts package if you want
ColorWise to do your paper sims.
