Now, suddenly...
Our black curve is distorted.
After discussing it with ONYX, there is no explanation.
Solution, completely reinstall the rip and start over.
We thought it was the HP 5000 but after a visit from our dealer they
pointed out that since the problem is viewable in the rip preview, it's
happening before the data gets to the printer.
Problem? We send CMYK data (we're a printing business) to our ONYX rip
that drives our HP 5000.
We created a test target that we run religously to monitor color
consistency.
In that target we have 21 step scales of each color, CMY & K.
The K scale now drops off at 50%. That is, dot values less than 50% are
gone.
What is really weird is it's only effecting vector objects. We see no
change in contone images.
We have over 40 quicksets defined and man profiles that have been made
over months.
This problem has affected the entire system globally. All quicksets, all
profiles. It has affected profiles and quicksets that haven't changed in
months.
Has anyone ever seen this and can save me from the incredible amount of
work of intitializing the drive, re-installing and rebuilding
everything?
It was suggested that we change settings on the printer control panel
but I must re-emphasize we are not using the HP internal rip and the
problem is visible in the rip preview (before the data goes to the
printer.)
