I once profiled an EPSON 10000 fronted by Onyx 5.5 and 5.6. It was a tough
beast to contend with. Despite of all the bells and whistles in the package,
the built-in linearisation and calibration drove me nuts to the point that I
ended up linearizing with "curves". And got acceptable results that way.

In comparison, a BESTcolor RIP is a cinch to setup and run. I hear good
things about ColorBurt, too.

My two cents.
