I tend to agree. Something has happened to the ONYX color management
that is very odd.
It no longer manages (or plain ol screws up) k (black of cmyk) vector
objects.
It is only affecting the black, not the cmy. It is only affecting
vector, not contone.
Because I have limited time in a real world business environment I need
to go for the "sure kill." That is, I don't have time to try different
things.
I'll have to initialize the HD, re-install Win2K, re-install ONYX and
rebuild the Quicksets.
Actually, being a sane person I'll just get a different computer and try
this so I can continue running will I test.
Once again, ONYX robs my company of man hours and material wasted.
I can only find two things that I see as being contributory to this
problem.
1. The work done to the HP 5000
2. Some profiles were moved to a different directory
I doubt the HP work has any contribution to this problem since the
problem is seen in the preview before it ever gets to the printer.
What happened with the profiles is I noticed that profiles were not
appearing in the pop-up list as they should so I mentioned to the
operator that the reference profiles and the destination profiles
appeared to have two different location in ONYX.
He moved the profiles and now they appear in the correct pop-up menus.
This sounds very ONYX-like. Some seemingly innocuous little change in
which there is no mention of not doing it in any documentation and the
s/w doesn't warn or even seem to notice brings down the house.
There has to be a better rip. This one sucks man hours and profit out of
my company like a sponge.
