I posted a question about how to calibrate a 17 inch LCD Apple Studio
Display properly with photocal and spyder. I received several replies, all
contradicting eachother. I tried each method, but have had no success as so
far as my desat RGB images is concerned. When simply setting the LCD to
adobe 1998, they look perfectly neutral. When using photocal, they have
distracting green, magaenta and red casts in areas (mostly midtone areas).
I am very grateful for the advices, but nothing seems to work. I could bin
the photocal - my printer profiles are excellent for my epson 2100 ... but
although adobe setting on the monitor is neutral, it does not have the same
density as the printer profiles and so I find myself still guessing about
how to modify the final file to make it match the output. I am a mono
specialist so this is a hugh issue for me.
Several emails said the latest photocal does not work consistently due to
quality problems. Whatever. #260 is a lot for me and I can not buy other
software. I am thinking of selling the display instead and getting a CTR.
But what would really be great is detailed, step-by-step guidance for using
photocal with the LCD Apple Display which features in mwords ads.
I have turned off adobe gamma and default calibrater in extensions manager -
are there are features that conflict? What about color sync itself? Or the
fact that the software for the 17 inch display is factory installed and can
not be deleted/overridden?
