I've tried to use PMPro 4 to profile various monitors and Macs on OS X (Jag
and pre-Jag) with a Spectrolino, using a Keyspan USM->serial adapter with
the latest Keyspan drivers.

during the calibration phase, PMPro does't seem to respond to the Spectro as
the needle o' quality jumps all over the place even if I don't touch the
monitor controls. when it gets to the measurement stage it eventually fails
with an error message. this has happened on three different systems so far.
Doing the initial calibration with Measure Tool also fails, though it will
read charts from the Spectroscan and spots from the 'lino, so it appears
that the software is able to talk with the instrument.

any quicky fixes? other than boot back into OS9?

David:

We had the same problem with PM 4.1 Pro and Mac OS X. After looking around we realized the Spectrolino got out of calibration when installed in Mac OS X. We could read printer charts but not calibrating and profiling monitors (same problem as you with the quality indicator). We calibrated the instrument again (by keeping pressed the Spectrolino's key against the white calibration spot for ten seconds) and everything returned to normality. After that we realized the ColorPicker application crashed with the PM 4.1 Pro downloaded from the GretagMacbeth Web site. After consulting we were asked to download it again from the logosoft ftp site (ftp.logosoft.com). Called our attention this package is named PM 4.1_Jaguar which we guessed was specially designed for the Mac OS X 10.2. After installing it all of the four applications are running with no crashes at all. I hope this can be useful for you.
