Can anyone confirm or deny the following DEFAULT save locations for
Adobe Color Settings Files on Mac OS X? I've confirmed it on two
machines, but every app does it differently, and they all do it wrong.
Photoshop 7.01:
/Users/<username>/Documents
a.) Therefore by default it can't see the CSF files it saves; i.e. you
save it, change color settings to some other preset, then try to find
the settings file you just saved, and it's not in the pop-up menu.
b.) Does properly see CSF files in both /Library/Application
Support/Adobe/Color/Settings as well as
/Users/<username>//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Settings.
InDesign 2.01:
/Users/<username>//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color
a.) Same as Photoshop. Since it's not in ...Color/Settings, it's not
visible to InDesign (or any other Adobe application), once saved,
pop-up is changed, and then you try to look for it again.
b.) Same as Photoshop - sees CSFs in both /Library and /User locations.
Illustrator 10.03:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Settings
a.) At least with Illustrator 10, it sticks it in a location where it
is visible to all Adobe apps. But if you aren't an Admin user, you
don't have permission to save files in /Library. These files by default
should go in the /Users location.
b.) Does not see CSF files in the /User location. Only sees them in
/Library.
Thanks,
Chris Murphy
