I agree whole-heartedly. You can't completely control ink limit per channel
in RGB mode either. Yes, you *can* profile as RGB to simply characterize
your device's gamut. But you can't control the image fidelity in such a
mode (read: highlight dots). Also, your primaries will never be more than
90% pure due to the transformation of an RGB target to CMYK. Only a CMYK
target will allow pure yellows, cyans and magentas.
When Epson comes out with a Lightjet or Lambda for the masses, then
profiling it as an RGB device will result in truly outstanding, color
accurate output. Until then, trade in the automatic, get a manual and drive
it with the gears it has, CMYK.
