Paul,
I cannot make the comparison between Best and PowerRIP that you have asked
but I can comment on the Best products. I would recommend the Best Photo
Edition as having great flexibility for the working photographer than the
Designer Edition.
You will be able to send RGB & CMYK files to the PE RIP. It can also do
your separations. The DE RIP is limited to CMYK data only.
THe downside of both Best RIP's is that they do not allow you to build
custom profiles for 3rd papers that you may want to use in your printer.
As Neil Snape mentioned, as long as your printer is supported by Best, then
you will be very pleased with the results. But I have to add, as long as you
are happy using the papers (and supplied profiles) available for your
supported printer.
Good luck with your decision.
Regards
Richard
