I thought I had an answer to a similiar problem evolving in this
thread. I too have a Xerox 7700 as well as Epson 9000
and 3000 printers. I've been using the 3000 with a rip to make pre
press proofs. The results are good but the process
is painfully slow. Proofing a magazine takes the better part of a day.
I use my 9000 to make giclee prints and have profiled my papers and
inks. The results are good. I'm hoping that the
9600 I have on order will produce even better results.
The problem is the Xerox. Using the export plug in in Photoshop
produces accurate prints of tagged images when printing
RGB files straight from Photoshop but my Quark 5 files print too
dark. Obviously these files are headed for an offset
press so I'm not
This is funny because I just got back from working with a 7700 at a
client. I had problems. The output is too dark like you say, but it's
not just Quark. A Photoshop CMYK yields the exact same results for
me, so at least it's consistent. But too dark is livable. What is
really bad is that blue comes out with a very magenta cast, making it
turn purple. Very strange.
