Well, it sounds like profiling may not achieve much for us, but I'll give it
a try with Profilemaker Pro (I'm not yet ready to buy another profiling
app). The idea (if it provides any noticeable benefit) is to measure and
average multiple cameras to achieve a single general D1x profile. If it
turns out that this isn't any better than dpign nothing, then we'll leave it
be. this would be all studio work with standard lighting, exposures, etc.
It sounds like using a camera profile would be sort of a pain because we'd
have to either strip off or ignore the Adobe 98/sRGB profile that the camera
writes to the JPEG file, and assign the custom one. when dealing with
thousands of images that's probably not very practical, and using camera RAW
mode is out of the question.
